Абстракт

The "Satyr / incuse square" coin type was the first mass-produced coin in the circulation of Western Thrace at the end of the 6th and the beginning of the 5th century BC. The discovered coins show traces of active participation in the coin circulation. In addition to wear, fragmentation and perforation are observed. Their mixing with later coin types suggests a long period of use. This material proposes a comprehensive study of this coin type as the earliest mass-produced type to create a model for work for all others with a tangible quantitative presence in the coin circulation. The author suggests the following directions for work in an interdisciplinary team: establishing the issuer; tracing the distribution to the south, southeast, and southwest; coordinating the finds on the map; die-study for each of the types; researching the elemental composition and technological features; establishing the origin of the metal for the different types of coins; studying the possibility of the existence of local coin mints, etc.
