Abstract

In a destructive study involving XRF analyses and electrical conductivity measurements, a non-destructive method for determining the composition of ancient bronze coins was developed (Hourmouziadis 2017). This article summarises data on Classical and Hellenistic coins from Abdera and Maroneia used for this purpose, providing measurement results for both their patinated surface and core material. The newly developed non-destructive method was then tested on three coin types of the Thracian king Teres III.
