Abstract

At the end of 2022, we had the idea to expand the Moneda Ibérica project (monedaiberica.org), which focuses on the ancient coinage of the Iberian Peninsula, to encompass the Christian medieval period of the Kingdom of Valencia. This period is well-documented through decades of study and is thus well understood. For this reason, we thought that it was suitable as a test for potential expansions to other periods or territories of Moneda Ibérica in the future. Consequently, between 2022 and 2023, it was decided to initiate the Kingdom of Valencia Project, a database intended to compile all Valencian coinage from the 13th to the 15th centuries. The ultimate goal is to produce an accessible digital catalogue based on Dédalo, encompassing all of these coin productions.
